A king has a vision in which he see’s 3 entities, the first resembles him however he is deformed with no pupils and the look or wrath is frozen in his face. The second resembles a beast from the deep possessing 3 eyes also devoid of life, the 3rd and final entity is a hand open and sorrounded by an aura resembling that of a sunset, in its palm also 3 eyes devoid of life.
Many interpretations can be drawn from the work but, from the perspective of the king he may interpret this as a matter relating to his rule and the state of the many domains under him. He may interpret his deformed figure and aggressive face as the toll being a ruler takes on the mind and its manifestations in the body. The great beast of the deep could also represent the might and reach of his kingdom noting the beast’s 4 limbs stretching north, south, east, and west, eyes devoid of life represents the callous and inhuman cruelty of his mighty empire. The hand can also represent his command over his people, the serfs and their obedience to him and the serf’s tenancy to see the kings rule as a law tantamount to divine rite.
After reading the interpretation it does not seem that dire to the fate of the kings empire, however it does present him with the opportunity to see his kingdom outside of his usual reality tunnel. He can see with the eyes of an outsider himself his rule, his people, and how all of these things relate to one another in hopes that it informs him of the world around him and hopefully this speaks to the viewer of this piece in that they see themselves as kings and queens in their own right over their own lives and understand their potential, how others see them, how they see themselves and how this affects the world around them and themselves.
